Reigns blew us away with its innovative and unique swiping mechanic that, while seemingly simple, featured a ton of depth and replayability. It's quite natural then to see games trying to emulate that success in other genres.

And that's exactly what Artificial Superintelligence is, a neat take on Reigns in a Sci-Fi universe. Instead of making decisions for your kingdom, you're training an AI by swiping left and right, upgrading its knowledge about the human race. Things can go wrong though and one mistake can mean death for the entire human race.

Its games are out first on Android, sometimes for a long period of time, and then come out of nowhere.

The latest is High Sea Saga and it lets you run your own pirate crew.
What better way to get back into the swing of things after a lovely Christmas break than with a dip into rumour town? It looks like Nintendo may be holding a Direct as early as next week, but we won't know for sure until closer to the time.

After the apparent EA leak late last year in which it looked like Fe was being shown off in January, 18 placeholder titles went up for pre-order as spotted by Cheap Ass Gamer on Twitter. The listings were then hastily removed after each had a picture with the Switch logo and 'Just announced at the Switch event' on it.

Of course, Ninty held such a Direct in 2017 around this time so we really wouldn't be surprised if this rumour came to fruition next week. I can only hope that my personal 2018 predictions come true and that Ninty's in line for more original content.

It's not that the ports aren't great, but it'd be fantastic to get some more surprising titles. I doubt anything will trump Breath of the Wild for a good long while, but I'd like to see them try rather than just recycle more old games and slap the word 'Deluxe' on the box.

If Nintendo holds a Switch Direct next week, what are you most hoping to see? Let us know in the comments down below.

If you're in the market for a casual yet deep enough shooter on mobile, I may have the right game for you.

Taking a lot of inspiration from Team Fortress 2, including the colorful art style, Guns of Boom is an FPS built with mobile in mind and that includes simplified controls with auto firing.

I'm told that it's quite good so it might be worth a look. Here's some gameplay if you're wary though:
