Sling Kong isn't about a gorilla with a broken arm. But it does have a chimpanzee, at least. A squishy one.

It's the next game from Protostar, the creators of the Bronze Award-winning racer Checkpoint Champion, and it'll be out for iOS and Android on August 6th.

Sling Kong is a familiar game, being that you catapult animals up a vertical gauntlet, avoiding deadly traps. It's like Pachinko in reverse.

And, actually, the game does have what Protostar describes as a "pachinko-style prize machine," so the comparison is valid.

The animals cling on to a hook with both arms, and then you pull back on them to fling them upwards. Timing and accuracy are the parameters of your success here.

If you are successful, you're showered in gold and can then spend that on unlocking more of the game's 40 characters. This includes an octopus, pig, jellyfish, panda, and loads more.

Team17’s The Survivalists is launching on Apple Arcade on Friday.

The Survivalists is a spin-off of Team17’s earlier The Escapists, where your survival skills are put to the test after washing ashore on a dangerous, remote island.

You have to survive against the harsh environment by building a shelter, hunting animals for food and exploring the island for loot that will help you overcome the odds. The wilderness is procedurally-generated, meaning each adventure is different when you restart, and there’s a plethora of biomes to see, resulting in a playthrough that’s unique for everyone.

Then there’s a recruiting system in which you can tame monkeys to help you automate certain tasks, including protecting the group and gathering resources. These cheeky friends will certainly help to make certain longer tasks more bearable, but they also require a strict banana diet to keep them happy.

Unbearably scary horror series Five Nights at Freddy's is getting a new entry later this year, so to celebrate we've got a lovely-looking batch of images teasing the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's 4: The Final Chapter.

The new teaser portraits, which focus on the returning animatronics Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica, offer a glimpse at what will be the final episode in the Five Nights at Freddy's saga.

Many of the images carry the tagline "Was it me?', which redditors are theorising as a reference to the 'Bite of '87' event. There are also plenty of Reddit theories regarding the latest, more cryptic purple hat image, most of which revolve around brightening the image to reveal the hidden message "Property of Fr...r".

With FNAF 4 due for release on Halloween later this year, creator Scott Cawthon is allowing himself double the time to make the latest entry as good as it can be, after the short development times for the first three games.

We're huge fans of the Five Nights at Freddy's series here at Pocket Gamer, with the first two games both receiving Gold Awards.

In his review of the most recent entry, Five Nights at Freddy's 3, Glen praised its scare value and atmosphere, but said that ultimately "it's more of a frustrating experience than a fun or engaging one".
Touch Arcade
It was announced earlier this week that the multiplayer beta for Mario Kart Tour would become available for all players for a limited time. That day has now arrived and so you'll be able to try out the multiplayer regardless of whether you're a subscriber to the Gold Pass or not.

The test will only be around for a short amount of time – 6 days in total – running from today until the 29th of January. There have also been a few small changes from the previous test that Gold Subscribers could access over the Christmas period last year.

Beyond anybody being able to access there will also be the option to play with players in your immediate vicinity through location data on your device. So not a huge amount of difference in reality but it's still worth noting.

Once again, Nintendo has been keen to warn players that the game's connection can become unstable or fail completely during some races. Beyond that, the game could freeze temporarily or crash completely whilst input lag can also occur, rendering steering unresponsive. There's also the possibility it could make your battery drain faster or your phone heat up more than usual. Quite a few caveats to bear in mind then.
Need friends in Mario Kart Tour? Share your friend codes here!
If you're not sure how to access the Multiplayer, it's not too hard to find. Simply tap the menu button in the centre at the bottom of the screen and from there you'll see the multiplayer icon on the far right of the second row of icons. Within that menu, you'll be able to choose whether you want to create your own lobby or jump into a random match.

With Nintendo allowing the rest of the community to join in with this beta, it's probably a good sign that the full release of the multiplayer mode for Mario Kart Tour isn't too far away. It'll be interesting to see what effect this will have on the game's popularity going forward.

Mario Kart Tour is available now on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
'This said, his wat'ry eyes he did dismount,
